- Its material is the horn of the water buffalo (Bubulus bubulus). The water buffalo belongs to the cow family. It was domesticated in ancient China, the Avars brought it to the Carpathian Basin. The wild buffalo now lives only in the marshes of Eastern India. Its utilization –although we are intersted only in the horn here- is happening through its strength, perfect draught animal it is and through its milk. From the milk of buffalo they make the mozzarella, feta and cheddar chesse. Its meat ins’t enjoyable.
