What is a Flemish bow string?

The Flemish string can also be made of dacron or, for stronger bows, of fastflight material. It's not a difficult thing to do, but it does require a bit of attention and routine. We provide video assistance.

What is a Flemish twisted string?

One type of bow string is the endless, twisted string, which has only one fixed loop, the other end runs freely and is tied by the archer.

The name is Flemish, because it originates from this region in the 16th century. Traditional archers still like to use it to this day, because it allows the archer to set the desired and appropriate brace height of the bow and to do it again if the string is stretched a bit.

Here we show you in a video how to tie the bowyer’s knot.
