With the fall of Byzantium (1453) a world empire came to an end, but with the name Istanbul the center of a new world empire was in the making. With a great number of mixed army it conquered the surrounding nations, which were taxed seriously.

Its special unit was the Janissary fearing nothing, who skilfully used the almost excellent bow. According to the legend in the 17th century a Turkish janissary shot across the Bosporus (about 2670 feet).

It is interesting that most of the Turkish army was made up of not the mounted force, but the infantry, who used short mounted bows.

The characteristic of the Turkish bow is the strong reflection (this way drawing and setting back requires huge concentration) and the double joints at the stiff arms. Un-drawn it is C-formed.
